Liquidity for Succession. Continuity for Generations.

The challenge

The Succession Liquidity Gap

  1. Wealth is not simply a financial value. It is a structure made up of businesses, investments, real estate, liquid assets and other components.

  2. When the transition begins, the family does not only need to transfer ownership. It also needs sufficient liquidity to manage the obligations and decisions surrounding that transition.

  3. This is what we call the Succession Liquidity Gap: the difference between the liquidity available to the family and the liquidity actually required during succession.

  4. If that gap is not anticipated, it can place the family under significant financial pressure and may lead to decisions that affect the value of the wealth.

  1. How Riches & Guards Helps

From financial structure to succession liquidity.

A structured approachfor a more certain tomorrow.

    1. A wealth adviser at a sunlit marble desk looking over three glass-cased models, a townhouse, an office building and a country house, with London and Tower Bridge beyond the windows.

      01Assess

      Assess the Financial Structure

We start by understanding how your wealth is held: the assets and debts involved, how ownership is structured, and the amount of available liquidity. We then identify the potential financial pressures on your family or business during succession.

    2. A glass basin of clear water on a sunlit marble terrace, a brass measuring rule standing against it beside an hourglass and a navy folio, New York's skyline beyond.

      02Quantify

      Quantify the Liquidity Need

We estimate how much liquidity your family or business may need, who needs it, and when. We consider applicable taxes, debts, business requirements and family arrangements, then compare these needs with the funds that could actually be available.

    3. An adviser's hands drawing the elevation of a garden pavilion with brass dividers at a marble table, the Eiffel Tower beyond the open windows.

      03Design

      Design the Liquidity Strategy

Based on this assessment, we design a liquidity strategy suited to your family’s needs and resources. We consider costs, timing, flexibility and capital efficiency, aiming to fund succession needs within the chosen solution’s terms and your ability to sustain it.

    4. A meeting of advisers around a long marble table, seen from behind as they face the windows, one of them in Gulf dress and one in a red shemagh, Dubai's skyline beyond.

      04Coordinate

      Coordinate With Existing Advisers

We work alongside your existing advisers, including lawyers, tax advisers, private banks, your family office and trustees where relevant. We align the liquidity strategy with your existing arrangements and clarify everyone’s responsibilities and the steps needed for coordinated implementation.

  2. Riches & Guards complements the family’s existing advisory structure. We do not seek to replace it.

Who We Work Alongside

Riches & Guards works directly with founders, business owners, and individuals and families with substantial wealth across different wealth levels when they face a succession liquidity need. Depending on the founder’s preference and the circumstances of the case, we may work directly with the founder or alongside the advisers already involved. These may include family offices, trustees, lawyers, tax advisers, private banks and other specialists. In some cases, the founder approaches us directly. In others, an existing adviser identifies a succession liquidity need and introduces Riches & Guards as a specialist focused on that specific requirement.

About

It was founded around one specialist question:

How families fund the transition of wealth from one generation to the next.

Ghassan Obeid, founder of Riches & Guards, seated in a dark suit.

Riches & Guards is a founder-led specialist firm focused on Succession Liquidity for HNW families, business owners and internationally connected families.

Through years of work, Ghassan Obeid identified a recurring challenge: substantial wealth and sophisticated structures do not always mean that sufficient liquidity will be available when succession occurs. That observation became the foundation of Riches & Guards.
